Biography
Massimo Modoni – Baritone
Massimo Modoni is an Italian baritone and the founder of the Accademia dell’Opera Italiana (AOI).
He began his musical education as a Harpist, and trained vocally under the late Francesca Scaini, Sherman Lowe in his hometown Venice and than with Alison Pearce at the Royal Academy of Music. He has than perfected his craft in masterclasses with Operatic legends such as Mirella Freni, Raina Kabaivanska, Giulio Zappa and Silvio Zanon.
He has performed at prestigious venues such as Teatro Malibran in Venice, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Teatro Dante Alighieri in Ravenna, Teatro Comunale in Ferrara, Conway Hall in London and BVOF in Ireland. His musical collaborations include working with esteemed conductors Renato Balsadonna, Paolo Olmi, Emanuela Di Pietro, and David Brophy as well as renowned accompanists such as Michele D’Elia, Joice Fieldsen, and Andrés Gallucci.
He has recently performed the role of Starveling in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with BVOF. Upcoming productions are Le Fete Galant with Pegasus Opera Company, in the role of Pierrot, conducted by Odaline de la Martinez.
Alongside his work on stage, Massimo is a dedicated recitalist. Among his upcoming engagements is A Journey to Rome, a recital with celebrity organist Jeremiah Stephenson at Conway Hall and St. Michael Cornhill, London. This program showcases a selection of opera arias and scenes from 19th- and 20th-century Italian opera.
Massimo also frequently collaborates with pianist Brian Hughes in solo recitals. Their highly praised program, Seven Deadly Sins: A Descent into the Art of Opera’s Greatest Villains, explores some of opera’s most iconic and complex antagonists.
As the leader of AOI, Modoni provides world-class training and performance opportunities for emerging opera singers, collaborating with top institutions such as Teatro alla Scala and the Royal Opera House. His dedication to vocal artistry continues to shape the next generation of operatic talent.
