Massimo Modoni – Baritone
Massimo is an Italian baritone and the founder of the Accademia dell’Opera Italiana (AOI).
He began his musical education as a Harpist, and trained vocally under the late Francesca Scaini, Sherman Lowe in his hometown Venice and than with Alison Pearce at the Royal Academy of Music. He has than perfected his craft with Operatic legends such as Mirella Freni, and Silvio Zanon and vocal coaches Alexandre Naoumemko, Giancarlo Mari and James Schmidt (Haus of Schmizzay).
He has performed at prestigious venues such as Teatro Malibran in Venice, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Teatro Dante Alighieri in Ravenna, Teatro Comunale in Ferrara, Conway Hall in London and BVOF in Ireland. His musical collaborations include working with esteemed conductors Renato Balsadonna, Paolo Olmi, Emanuela Di Pietro, and David Brophy as well as renowned accompanists such as Michele D’Elia, Joice Fieldsen, and Andrés Gallucci. He has recently performed the role of Starveling in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with BVOF and the title role of Pierrot in Le Fete Galant with Pegasus Opera Company, conducted by Odaline de la Martinez.
Upcoming engagements includes a series or recitals in september and December 2025 with celebrity organist Jeremiah Stephenson in the UK and italy. This program showcases a selection of opera arias and scenes from 19th- and 20th-century Italian opera.
In October 26th 2025 Massimo will be Armando in the world premiere of “La ragazza imprudente” By joe Schittino at the Luglio musicale Trapanese, conducted by Mirco Reina. Massimo will be the principal artist alongside Soprano Nila Masala for the recital “O dolcezze, O memorie” commemorating the great italian baritone Ettore Bastianini, featuring in the Bastianini Festival promoted by the city of Siena.
In November 22nd and 23rd 2025 Massimo will perform as bass solo for the Mascagni messa di gloria conducted by Emanuela Di Pietro
On January 6th massimo will perform alongside legendary repetiteur and accompanist Ekland Hasa in an operatic gala dedicatedto Mascagni and puccini. In 2026 he will perform the role of Barone Douphol in Giuseppe Verdi's traviata for Hurn Court Opera, covering Giorgio Germont.
In summer 2026 Massimo will be Giorgio Germont in Traviata e Barone Scarpia for Avigliano Opera Festival, conducted by Maestro Rizzitelli
As the leader of AOI, Modoni provides world-class training and performance opportunities for emerging opera singers, collaborating with top institutions such as Teatro alla Scala and the Royal Opera House. His dedication to vocal artistry continues to shape the next generation of operatic talent.
